Shakedown Stream is a weekly Grateful Dead radio/podcast show hosted by Jer Bear. It is 4 to 5 hours in length. The first hour is a mix of old, rare, new, favorite and interesting songs of the Grateful Dead. Then Jer Bear plays a show - in its' entirety - selected from their 30 years run from 1965-1995. Afterwards, some more chestnuts may be played to help listeners ease on out of the Stream.

Pure Jerry - Part 1
Part 1 of "Pure Jerry" will contain material designated specifically for this year's celebration of Jerry's life and musical legacy, and will flow into the Stream seamlessly, blending Jerry's virtuoso leads, soulful vocals, and mindbending riffs into a raging river of psychedelic bliss.

Furthuring and Streaming
This is Walter in New York and I'm writing in for the first time. I've been tapped into the stream since summer of '09 and have listened religiously ever since. I just wanted to say that shakedown stream is always one of the highlights of my week. This summer I'm taking classes at SUNY Geneseo, a college near Rochester. I just got my Further tickets this week for the July 26, (this coming tuesday), show and I couldn't be more excited. The first place I heard that they were playing near me was on the stream when you read the summer tour dates. It's that funny named town that was giving you problems, Canandaigua, that I have tickets for. It is so hard to say and spell that it's somewhat of a running joke for people who live around here. The easy explanation is to say it like this: cannon like a war cannon, day, and gwuh. Cannondaygwuh is how it should be spelled.
Anyway, thanks for all the streams, they never fail to satisfy my dead fix. My buddies and I will be listening to the new stream on tuesday afternoon as we prepare for the show and we'd love to hear a good long Franklin's Tower this week. Maybe you could even send the formidable vibes at the control of the stream towards Further and see if we can coax a Franklins out on tuesday night aswell.
Thanks for doin what you do and keep on streamin my friend,
Sincerely,
Walter in NY

Thanks for the Stream
I've been listening to the stream since about Christmas, and I really enjoy
it. I'm a bit behind, because they pile up faster than I can listen to them
(I'm up to May), but when I saw the new one pop up on itunes, I had to jump
ahead and listen to it. April 19, 1978 was my first show, and the one where
I "got it" (during the *Deal,* to be specific). I've had various tapes of
it over the years, but never anything as good as the one you shared with
us. It brought back so many great memories. Vets Memorial Hall is still
there, mostly hosting conventions and stuff now. It's a big theatre, not a
hockey hall like the places they started playing in the 80's, and seats
about 4,000. My friends and I were in the first row of the balcony, great
seats. I remember that during the drums, everybody in the band was on stage
at one point, banging on something. I'm not kidding, I swear to you that
Garcia had a tambourine. Of course, history was made with the encore,
but we didn't appreciate it at the time. We wanted to hear *Truckin'*
or *Sugar Mag* or something we knew - we couldn't believe they were covering this
silly pop song! Of course, now I brag that I was there!! I was also at
Hampton for the return of *Box of Rain* in '86 - my 2 big Grateful Dead
moments.
Thanks for the stream! Rob

The Truth Changes
It's not True until it is True.
As the Stream becomes longer and deeper, it becomes harder to remember all of the feature shows. Fortunately, I caught myself because we have already featured Boise, ID '83 show. Therefore, we will now move on to Dec. '82, Oakland, CA. Who knows, maybe I have featured that show too. If so, we will re-group and come up with another show.

Healthy Streaming
Love the stream. Found it a month after I started walking August 2010 at 245lbs. Now in July 2011, I'm running 3 miles and walking 3 miles EVERY day and using the podcast to do so...down to 195 and a happy marriage. Excellent music and commentary...and thanks. I'll be donating this year. Menlo Park CA Jeff and Maggie
