In honor of the Beatles 50th anniversary of their TV appearance on the Ed Sullivan show, last week's episode of Shakedown Stream™ featured the Grateful Dead playing Beatles. We started with a version of "Hey Jude" sung by Pig Pen from 1969, the Jerry Garcia Band doing "I Saw Her Standing There," Bob Weir & RatDog's jamming an acoustic "Blackbird," and a rare instrumental Jerry version of "Mother Nature's Son."
The featured Dead show last week was from Burlytown, Vermont - April 1983. Join us on next week as continue to tour the 50 states around the USA. We are going to South Carolina - Halloween 1985.
Shakedown Stream is a weekly Grateful Dead radio/podcast show hosted by Jer Bear. It is 4 to 5 hours in length. The first hour is a mix of old, rare, new, favorite and interesting songs of the Grateful Dead. Then Jer Bear plays a show - in its' entirety - selected from their 30 years run from 1965-1995. Afterwards, some more chestnuts may be played to help listeners ease on out of the Stream.
