The theme for this month is psychedelic in nature (this may seem redundant when speaking of 60s Dead). Shakedown Stream is featuring Grateful Dead shows that have the Dark Star>St Stephen>The Eleven>Death Have No Mercy set lists. Such a standard arrangement of songs is not only worthy of our attention from a historical point of view, but, just as importantly, these jams are superb representations of acid rock n' roll.
As deadheads, we need to always to remind ourselves of how the music started and its' evolution so "...with a rose in and out of the garden we go." |
Shakedown Stream is a weekly Grateful Dead radio/podcast show hosted by Jer Bear. It is 4 to 5 hours in length. The first hour is a mix of old, rare, new, favorite and interesting songs of the Grateful Dead. Then Jer Bear plays a show - in its' entirety - selected from their 30 years run from 1965-1995. Afterwards, some more chestnuts may be played to help listeners ease on out of the Stream.
